Instructions

  1. Basecoat wood with Wicker White
  2. Tape off the bottom third of the wood and paint Camel.
  3. Determine the size needed and print out "hi".  Transfer "hi" to stencil blank with the permanent marker.
  4. Cut out "hi" with craft knife.
  5. Stencil "hi" in Bark Brown at the top of sign.  Refer to photo for placement.
  6. To get orange, mix Dafodil Yellow with Engine Red onto paper plate until the desired orange is achieved.
  7. Trace the letters for "pumpkin" in pencil onto scrap paper.  Cut out each letter and place it on sign.  Line up and tape each letter to make sure it stays in place.
  8. Line up the "p" stencil on top of the traced "p".  While holding down the stencil, remove the scrap paper from beneath without moving the stencil on top.
  9. Stencil the "p" with the orange mix.  Repeat with the remaining letters.
  10. Using the liner brush, add depth to each letter by outlining only the top and left side of each letter as shown in photo with Bark Brown.
  11. Squeeze Bark Brown onto a plate.  Dip one flat side of the block into the Bark Brown.  Dab on plate to remove excess.  Lightly glide the wood block along the corners of the sign for distressed look.  Continue on top of the sign over letters.  Repeat with Wicker White.
