This hand-crafted, cardboard cat house is the puuurrrfect gift for your special fur baby! Recycle the boxes from your online orders to create a cozy haven for your favorite cat.
Instructions
- At the top of the box, note that there are two long flaps and two shorter flaps. Cut each of the shorter flaps into triangles- or a roof shape. See project photo for reference.
- Close the two longer flaps to meet the edges of the roof shaped flaps. Use hot glue to adhere the edges. More cardboard (scraps) may need to be added to these pieces to ensure they meet with each other at the top and create a shape like the roof of a house. See project photo for reference.
- Spray several light coats of Mod Podge Clear Acrylic Sealer in Matte onto the entire surface of the cardboard box. Let the sealer dry well and allow any fumes to dissipate. This will keep the raw cardboard from buckling due to the moisture in the paint.
- Print the Holiday Cat House Template from plaidonline.com. Use Transfer Paper to transfer these shapes to the cardboard house. Follow the layout of the example project or choose your own placement of the doors, windows and trees.
- Using brushes from the FolkArt Artist Variety brush set and Apple Barrel paints, paint each of the transferred shapes on the box. Add details like shingles using the template provided, as well as snow to the peaks of each of the shapes.
- Apply Glitterific in Clear Hologram to the snow-capped areas to give it an icy, sparkly look.
- Using a craft knife, cut a flap around the painted door to allow your pet to enter their new home.
