By Donna Dewberry

Other Things You'll Need

  • 7 ¾" x 7 ¾" Wood Heart Frame
  • Cotton swabs

Instructions

  1. Create a softly blended mottled background on the raw wood frame.  Create pastel color mixes of Wicker White plus Perfect Purple, Wicker White plus Bright Pink, Wicker White plus Lime Green.  Add Floating Medium to dilute each color.  Using a 3/4" Flat brush, apply color washes of the premixed colors onto the surface, softly blending between colors patches.
  2. Hydrangea blossoms – Using a No. 12 Flat brush, paint groupings of flower petals.  Some petals are painted with a double loaded brush of Look At Me Blue plus Wicker White and other flower petals are painted with a double loaded brush of Perfect Purple plus Wicker White.  Flower centers are small dots of Lime Green using the No. 2 Script Liner brush.
  3. Rosebuds – Using a No. 12 Flat brush, paint One Stroke rosebuds.  Double load the brush with the light pink mixture plus Wicker White.
  4. Filler blossoms – group five or six cotton swabs together with a rubber band to create a “paintbrush.”  Dab the cotton swab brush into a puddle of Perfect Purple and Wicker White then dab up and down on the palette to off load excess paint.  Dab on these filler flowers where desired.  You may also choose to dab on a few flowers that are Bright Pink plus Wicker White.
  5. Leaves – Using a No. 12 Flat brush that is double loaded with Lime Green plus Wicker White, paint Basic One Stroke leaves were desired around and even on top of the painted flowers.
  6. Allow to dry, sign your name using a No. 2 Script Liner and enjoy!
