Make a special gift for Mom to celebrate Mother's Day with this interactive canvas.
Instructions
- Prep the wooden canvas by sanding any rough edges and wipe clean. Paint surface with two coats of Sky Blue and the canvas sides in King’s Gold. Let dry in between coats.
- Print out the downloadable artwork. Color the image with color pencils.
- Underneath “I love you this much” write the name of the receiving person in permanent marker.
- Cut out artwork and extra heart. On a piece of wax paper, place the images facedown and coat with Mod Podge.
- Coat the surface of the canvas with Mod Podge. Carefully release the images from the wax paper and place face up on the canvas. Smooth in place with brayer and squeegee. Apply a top coat of Mod Podge. Let dry.
- Cut two pieces of 16” lengths of ribbon. Half one piece and hot glue the ribbon onto the canvas edge so the ribbon runs horizontal. Place where the arm runs off the canvas. Repeat on other side.
- Cut the foam sheet in half lengthwise. Hot glue to either side of the canvas along edge. With the permanent marker draw a long arm extending from the canvas artwork. Stop short of where the child’s handprint will be placed. See project photo for reference.
- Paint the child’s palms and fingers with Bright Blue and press flat on a piece of white paper. Make one print using the left hand and one print using the right hand. Let dry.
- Color two small hearts and cut out. Mod Podge to the center of each handprint.
- Cut out the handprints. Mod Podge to the end of each extended arm. Let dry.
- Roll arms towards canvas and secure with ribbon.
