- Remove laces and tape off any areas of the project surface you do not want to paint with maskingtape including the inside of the shoe and the sole.
- Begin by blocking out your colors by painting yellow onto the toe, red in the center of the shoe andblue at the back of the shoe. Allow to dry and add a second coat.
- Blend your colors where they meet using your favorite ombre technique. This may take manycoats and a good amount of fussing. Stick with it!
- To create your lightning bolt you will need to make sure that the shape will allow for properlacing. I recommended printing out a general shape and then customizing the shape to your shoe.
- Transfer your custom shape onto your vinyl making sure to mirror the shape for your secondshoe. Cut out your vinyl and apply Mod Podge ® Stiffy to the back of each piece. Allow to dry.
- Paint the front of your lighting bolt in Yellow. Allow to dry and add a second coat. For extra detailyou can fake white stitching around the lighting bolt with a detail brush and white paint. Allow todry.
- Hold your lighting bolts up to the shoe and mark where the lace holes will go (See project image).Create small holes at the marks.
- For best results, seal with Kicks Studio Matte or High Gloss Finish.
- Lace your shoes up with your lighting bolts and you are ready to fight crime!
- Allow 24 hours to dry, and 30 days to fully cure. Allow the paint to fully cure before cleaning
