Just in time for the winter holidays, this hand painted wood frame painted in blue, white, and metallic silver is perfect to display your favorite winter holiday photo!

Other Things You'll Need

  • Waxed paper palette
  • Paper towels
  • Brush Basin for water
  • Old toothbrush

Instructions

  1. Using a 3/4" Flat brush, paint a mottled “slip slap” background using Cobalt Blue and Look At Me Blue.  Allow to dry, if desired, sand smooth with a fine grit sandpaper.
  2. Shade the edges of the frame, around the open photo area, around the ornaments and the ribbon lines with Prussian Blue.
  3. Paint Wicker White snowflakes using a No. 1 Liner brush and a stylus (or a toothpick) for the dotwork.
  4. The ornaments are painted Wicker White.  Each ornament is shaded with Look At Me Blue and then embellished with a variety of designs using, Apple Red, Classic Green, Citrus Green, and Prussian Blue.
  5. Platinum Treasure Gold is used to paint the ribbon strings holding the ornaments using a No. 1 Liner brush.  The same brush and paint is also used to paint a dash dot dash pattern around the edge of the frame.  
  6. Complete the painted design using an old toothbrush to “flyspeck” the Wicker White snow over the frame.  NOTE:  Be sure to thin the Wicker White a touch with water.)

  1. Insert your favorite 5” x 7” photo and enjoy!
