Instructions
- To create cactus spikes, cut several pieces of embroidery floss to 2.” Tie the pieces into knots at the centers.
- Spray Mod Podge Ultra Matte onto a paper towel to prime the pump, then spray a light coat of the Mod Podge onto the canvas where you want to place the cactus spikes. Only spray a small section to start.
- Place the knotted floss onto the sprayed area and use a toothpick to press the knot in place. The knot is the section that should be adhered to the canvas. Tip: While holding the floss in place with the toothpick, you can blow on the area lightly to make the Mod Podge “tackier” more quickly.
- Continue this process across the painted cactus area, spraying small sections at a time and applying the floss with a toothpick where desired.
- Spray the flower areas of the painting with a generous coating of Mod Podge Ultra Matte. Lay embroidery floss on the canvas mimicking the flowers shapes to create a “nest” sort of shape. Then, place a flower shaped bead in the center of the “nest.”
- Spray the entire canvas with a coat of Mod Podge Ultra to seal the painting and stiffen the adhered embroidery floss. Let dry completely before moving or touching the added embellishments.
