Instructions
Preparation
- Wash all china pieces using soap and warm water. Rinse well, and allow to dry.
- Moisten paper towel or lint-free cloth with rubbing alcohol. Thoroughly wipe all surfaces to remove remaining dust, dirt, grease and soap film.
- Lightly sand the metal rack. NOTE: Because the rack is new, sanding will give it a little tooth.
- Trace pattern onto tracing paper.
- Working one piece at a time, tape the traced pattern in place and transfer by retracing the pattern lines after inserting a sheet of gray graphite between the surface and the pattern. The same pattern will be repeated on 2 cups and 2 saucers.
Painting
- Paint the metal rack (except the center base) White using a No. 14 flat brush. Allow to dry.
- Using the No.14 flat, paint the center of the base (where the saucers set) Soft Blue.
- Brushstroke Flowers Cup and Saucer – Using the No. 4 filbert, stroke all flower petals Soft Blue. Beginning at the outer tip of the petal, lay the brush flat, pull in towards the center of the flower rotating the brush clockwise between the thumb and the index finger to end on the chisel.
- Using the No.4 filbert, stroke the leaves on the remaining pieces Soft Blue. Starting at the outer tip of the leaf, lay the brush flat and pull towards the flower center rotating the brush clockwise between the thumb and index finger to end on the chisel next to the stem.
- Daisy Cup and Saucer – Using the No. 4 filbert, stroke all flower petals Soft Blue. Beginning at the outer tip of the petal, lay the brush flat, pull in towards the center of the flower rotating the brush clockwise between the thumb and the index finger to end on the chisel.
- Paint brushstroke leaves using the No. 4 flat starting at the base of the leaf and pulling out to the tip rotating the brush clockwise between the thumb and the index finger to end on the chisel.
- Completing all Cups and Saucers – Using the No. 0 liner, paint all details Soft Blue including: all stems, two long accent comma strokes around the daisy, stamens coming from the tulip and lines from each side of the mum.
- Using the No. 0 liner, paint all small accent comma strokes and line the stems Navy Blue.
- Metal Rack – Paint a small delicate border along the base using Soft Blue accented with Navy Blue.
Finishing
Delta Ceramcoat Select Multi-Surface Satin Paints once cured are top-shelf dishwasher safe. Two different methods are offered to cure Delta Ceramcoat Select Multi-Surface Satin Paints:
- Bake To Cure – Always allow 24 hours of dry time after completing a project before baking-to-cure. Place painted glassware in cool oven; turn oven temperature to 350°. Set timer to bake for 30 minutes. Turn oven off after 30 minutes and allow painted glassware to cool down in oven. Remove only when oven is cool. NOTE: Painted glassware should heat up and cool down with the oven, do NOT preheat oven.
- Air Cure – Allow painted glassware to air dry for 21 days.
