Create an everlasting DIY birthday calendar with painted peg people.
Instructions
- Screw an eyehook into the top of each peg person. Paint the skin color on each peg person. Allow to dry.
- Paint hair and facial features below the hole on the eyehook. Paint the hair and eyes with the color of your choice. You can add cheeks, lips, nose, etc. Or you can keep it simple with just eyes and hair.
- Paint the clothes on the peg person. Start with the base layer, once dry add top-layers. Paint items like tunics, sweaters, jackets, pants, tops, skirts, etc.
- Attach washi tape or other decorative tapes to be belts, ties and small accessories. Paint small accessories to the peg person.
- Attach a number sticker on the front of each doll. This number should correspond to the birthday of the actual person. Use Mod Podge to attach a small paper cutout (with the persons name on it) to the back of the peg person. Top-coat the entire peg person with Mod Podge.
- Attach an eyehook to the bottom of each peg person, except the last one in the chain.
- Attach month stickers across the board. Glue the wood word above the months. Top-coat the entire board with Mod Podge.
- Screw eyehooks across the bottom of the frame. Make sure you line them up so they are centered under each month.
- Attach the peg people together with Jump-rings. They should be in chorological order and by month. Using jump-rings, attach each string of peg people under the proper month.
PROJECT TIP: Use low-tack tape to mark off stripes and shapes to create clothing looks on your peg people.
