Repurposed Christmas Trees
Create a set of elegant and simple trees with FolkArt Home Decor Chalk! Paint with the colors of the season when you craft this collection of trees - perfect for any mantelpiece!

Instructions

  1. Using the miter saw, cut the ballisters in half making a 7", 10", 12" and 15" piece.
  2. Make four triangles that measure 13"x6", 14"x6", 17"x8" and 18"x8".  Cut them out with Jigsaw.
  3. Find the center of the 13" x 6" triangle.  Place the top of the 7" ballister piece in the center about 2"up and trace around the ballister end.  Cut out where marked with jigsaw.
  4. Paint the small triangle Sheepskin, next size up Irish, next size up White Adirondack and the largest 
  5. Repeat step 3 with the 14" x 6" triangle with the 10" ballister piece, 17" x 8" with the 12" ballister and the 18" x 8" with the 15" ballister piece.
  6. Paint the small triangle Sheepskin, the next size up Irish, the size up from that one White Adirondack and the largest Imperial.
  7. Mix some Java into water and make a wash.  Brush the wash onto all of the trees.
  8. Dip the block into the Java and remove excess on paper towel.  Lightly glide the White Adirondack down the trees.  Once dry repect with White Adirondack.
  9. Paint the bases with Castle.  Repeat step 7 on bases.  Add distressing with Layering Block using White Adirondack and Java as done in step 8.
  10. Glue the ballister pieces to their matching parts with wood glue.  Glue the bases as well.
