Instructions

  1. Stone Background – Basecoat entire wood cut out with Classic French Gray, allow to dry.  Using a stencil brush, begin tapping a light amount of paint  over the basecoat using brush mixes of gray.  Mix Classic French Gray and Wicker White to achieve lighter values and mix Classic French Gray with Licorice to achieve darker gray colors.
  2. Etched design – Paint the angel and garland leaves with a light gray mix of Classic French Gray and Wicker White.  Shade the angel face and wings with a medium gray mix. Using a liner brush loaded with the medium gray mix, add a stem and vein in the leaf garland.
  3. RIP / Ima Goner – Paint each letter with a medium gray mix.  Shade the left and bottom of each letter with Licorice.
  4. Dates – Using a liner brush loaded with the medium gray mix, paint each number and the center heart.
  5. Trim – Using a pencil, mark a line ¼” inside the edge of the wood cut out.  Paint a Licorice line over your pencil line using your liner brush.  Add a lighter gray value line to the outside edge of the Licorice line.  If desired, paint a crack in the tombstone using the medium value gray mix.
