Rustic Wood Round Gift Tags

Instructions

  1. Untie the knot in the jute and set aside.
  2. Trace your wood rounds onto the back of your craft paper. Alternatively you can use a circle stencil and make your circles all the same size.
  3. Cut out your circles.
  4. Using Mod Podge, coat the back side of your circle as well as the wood. Press the paper to the wood, smoothing out any bubbles. Tip: try to leave the edges of your circle free of Mod Podge. This will make it easier to burn the edges for a rustic look.
  5. Cut strips of plain craft paper to the size of your circle. This will be where you write names. Use Mod Podge to glue them down through the center. Allow to dry.
  6. Using a lighter, carefully burn the edges of your craft paper. The burn will stop when it hits the dried mod podge. Using your finger, smudge the ash around the perimeter of your paper.
  7. Using a marker or calligraphy pen, write the recipient's name on each.
  8. Using a pencil or other sharp item, push through the pre drilled hole and through the craft paper.
  9. Plug in your wood burner and allow to heat up.
  10. Press the tip to your woodround for about 15 seconds to create dark circles around the perimeter. See image.
  11. You can also create a differnmt design with your wood burner if wanted. Try lines!
  12. Lace your jute back through the holes. This is easier if you trim the edge of the jute.
  13. Tie the DIY gift tags to your gifts!
