Stacked Books with Egg Tag

Recycle old books to create a farmhouse-inspired, Easter home decor piece that is sure to add character to your space. Add a hand painted egg tag for additional charm to your DIY project.

Other Things You'll Need

  • 3 – 4"x6"x ¾" pieces of wood
  • 1 – 4"x6" x 1/8" piece of wood or heavy cardstock
  • White satin ribbon
  • 1/8" drill bit
  • Drill
  • Jigsaw
  • Transfer paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch (if using cardstock)
  • 1" scrap wood
  • Paper plate
  • Paper towel
  • Craft glue

Instructions

  1. Basecoat the book pieces with Dutch Aqua.
  2. Cut out egg shape from paper or wood using the drill or scissors for paper. 
  3. Make a hole for the ribbon with the drill or a hole punch if using paper.
  4. Basecoat the egg shape with Cameo Blush.  (If you are using the cardstock, paint the back of tag to help prevent the paper from curling.
  5. Transfer the pattern to the egg with transfer paper.  Refer to the photo for color placement.
  6. Using the scrap wood block, distress the books and the tag by dipping the block into the Raw Umber and remove excess off onto paper towel.  Slightly glide the block along the edges of the books and the tag.  Glide the block also on top of the books.
  7. Once dry glue the books together with craft glue.
  8. Wrap the books with the white ribbon.
