Using a large flat brush, basecoat paint each ornament. I painted the swirls alternating between two colors. One ornament was Wicker White and Cardinal Red and the second /tmp/tmpEb_C8T ornament was Wicker White and Classic Green. Allow basecoats to dry and reapply a second coat.
Paint a diagonal stripe on the Wicker White side of the ornament using the base color of the ornament. Note: On the red / white ornament the stripe will be Cardinal and on the green / white ornament the stripe will be painted Classic Green. Load the No. 8 flat brush and paint a diagonal stripe on the entire white side of each ornament. Allow to dry.
Load a liner brush with thinned paint and paint a small line on either side of the flat brush stripe. Allow to dry.
Load a ¼ detail painter with Wicker White and paint random polka dots on the red and green sides of the ornaments. Allow to dry.
To embellish your ornaments with jeweled charms, attach an eye crew into the bottom point of the ornament. If desired, add a drop of glue onto the eye screw before you screw it into the paper mache.
Create a bead charm using a head pin. Add crystal beads to an eye pin. Fold the remaining pin 90 degrees. Trim excess pin leaving a little less than half an inch. Create a loop using needle nose pliers. Attach one end of the eye pin to the eye screw at the bottom of the ornaments and a large crystal bead on the other half. (My large crystal bead came with a jump ring attached.) Hang on your tree and enjoy! Happy Holidays.
Tip: Polka dots and stripes are some of the easiest things to paint and you don't need a pattern. Experiment with daubers, pencil erasers, brush handles and even a toothpick when painting polka dots
