Use Mod Podge photo transfer medium to create a fun, stuffed squirrel pillow with none of the guilt.
Instructions
- Make a color laser copy the size desired. Trim the squirrel from the background.
- Cut a piece of muslin fabric 1" larger than your image. Be sure your fabric is smooth and free of wrinkles.
- Tear two sheets of wax paper a little larger than your image. Lay beside your Silicone Craft Mat.
- Lay your photocopy image-side facing UP on your craft mat.
- Squeeze a generous amount of Photo Transfer Medium onto a foam plate. In smooth strokes, apply the medium over the image. Apply a thick coat so that you cannot see the image. Cover the entire image.
- Carefully bend the craft mat back to release the image corner. Put your hand underneath the prepared image, lift and place (medium-covered side UP) on a clean piece of wax paper.
- Carefully place a piece of fabric over the image. Gently smooth to make contact with the fabric.
- Flip the fabric over so the paper is upright. Lay another piece of wax paper over the prepared image. Smooth over the image with a squeegee or brayer. Be sure to press over all of the edges to ensure good contact. Let dry 24 hours.
- To reveal the image, press a semi-damp sponge over the image in sections and let the dampness set for 2 minutes. Then rub over the wet paper in a circular motion removing the paper. Repeat until the image is completely revealed. Let dry.
- Repeat rubbings may be necessary in parts where the paper is still adhered. Let dry.
- Trim the fabric to have a ½" edge.
- Cut the fur backing fabric to cover the entire squirrel.
- Pin both fabric pieces together image facing inside and fur side facing inward. Sew around squirrel shaped piece along the image line leaving the bottom open.
- Trim away the excess fur fabric.
- Turn pillow inside out. Fill with stuffing and whipstitch the opening closed with needle and thread.
