Every backyard needs a good bar! Turn basic pallets and crates into a affordable and unique bar top to entertain your guests this spring. Enjoy your outdoor space by creating this easy-to-make bar, then add some color with a unique pattern.

  • Large shipping crate or pallet
  • Jigsaw
  • Pry bar
  • Screws
  • Drill
  • Drill bits
  • Screwdriver
  • 6" hairpin legs
  • Transfer paper
  • Tracing paper
  • Pencil
  • Computer printout of pattern
  • Ruler
  • Measuring tape
  • 1x12x10 wooden plank

Instructions

  1. Take all the walls, top and bottom of the shipping crate apart.
  2. Flip the walls around so that the inside wall is now the outside wall.
  3. Attach the front and sides back together with screws.  You will need to drill new pilot holes. 
  4. Attach the bottom back on with screws.
  5. Measure the bar as is from front to back and side to side.  Add 4” to all three sides for the bar to hang over.  The length of your planks will be determined by the size of your crate. Screw top into the tops edges of the sides and bottom of crate.
  6. Screw the four legs into the bottom of the bar.
  7. Tape off the third bottom half of the bar and paint Wicker White.
  8. Transfer paper to the front of bar.
  9. Paint the flowers with Cool Bisque and Fire Coral.
  10. Paint the leaves Dove Gray, Wicker White and Autumn Leaves.
  11. Outline the flowers and leaves then paint the other leaves and stems with Licorice.
  12. Refer to photos for color placement.
