Instructions

  1. Sketch banner design on poster board. Cut out to use as a templet.
  2. Place template on white fabric and trace around lightly with pencil. Cut the fabric ½ inch from line to create hem edge.
  3. Place fabric on protective surface to paint.
  4. Using the largest paint brush, dip into water then into a puddle of Opera. Begin at the center of a flower and paint a single stroke center. Add water to the brush and paint loosely around the center leaving white space. Add more paint and water and continue adding petals around in a circle leaving white space for color to spread. Press down and up on your brush as you paint to create different widths of the petal shapes.
  5. Paint five large flowers, several small flowers and a few buds in Opera.
  6. Using the medium paint brush, dip into water then into a puddle of Turquoise. Paint leaves around flowers by pressing down, pull forward and up to create a leaf shape.
  7. Using the largest paint brush, dip into water then into a puddle of Ultramarine. Paint a wash of background color around the flowers and leaves.
  8. Let dry completely.
  9. Cover design with a pressing cloth and iron to heat set.
  10.  Fold edges along pencil to the back of the banner and iron flat.
  11.  Hot glue or stitch the edge flat.
  12.  Cut and tie a length of pom-pom trim to either side of a dowel.
  13. Cut a length of pom-pom trim to go around the banner.
  14. On the backside of the banner, hot glue the dowel along the top edge. Hot glue or stitch the pom-pom trim in place.
