Join me in the studio to paint a snowman in a jar to create a snow globe effect. This is a simple and so fun painting to create using FolkArt Multi-Surface Acrylics.
Instructions
- Interior of mason jar – Paint the interior of the jar with a slip slap mottled pattern of Ocean View and Aqua. When dry, apply a wash of Teal around the edges. Transfer the pattern when dry.
- Snowman – Paint the snowman body with Wicker White. Shade the body with Classic French Gray. Paint a carrot nose using Pure Orange and shaded with Apple Red. Blush cheeks with Apple Red plus Wicker White. Add facial features using Licorice.
- Mitten – basecoat the midden with Lime Green. Shade the lower portion of the mitten with Sap Green. Add a touch of Wicker White to Lime Green to highlight.
- Hat – basecoat the body of the stocking cap with Lime Green. Shade with Sap Green. Highlight with Lime Green plus Wicker White. Add polka dots of Perfect Purple and highlight each purple polka dot with a tiny dot of Wicker White. Paint the band of the hat Lavender. Shade the outer edges with Violet Pansy.
- Scarf – Paint the scarf Lavender. Shade with Violet Pansy. Paint a knitted pattern using Violet Pansy, Lavender and Wicker White.
- Candy Cane – Paint the candy cane Wicker White. When dry, add Apple Red stripes and then a Sap Green line stripe between the red stripes. If desired, add a highlight glaze of Wicker White the length of the candy cane.
- Hearts – all hearts are painted Apple Red and highlighted with Pure Orange.
- Finishing Touches – Using a liner brush loaded with thinned Licorice, carefully outline the entire design. Paint “Winter Treats” inside the jar – above your painted snowman. Paint the outer layer Teal and the jar shape layer Wicker White. If desired, paint the metal cap using Classic French Gray, Licorice and Wicker White. Paint a layer or two of Extreme Glitter Hologram over the snowman body for extra effects of glistening snow. Add a ribbon bow using while craft glue.
