Cast spells with ease when you make this spellbinding witches wand for your Halloween costume. With this handmade DIY wand, your costume will come to life with glittery and bold colors. Pair with our other witch projects to complete your entire costume.
Instructions
- Sand down tip of wooden dowel with sanding paper.
- Use hot glue to make unique designs on the handle of the wand. Work in layers and build up the details over time, allowing each section to cool. To help expedite cooling, put wand in freezer.
- Once the wand is coated with hot glue to your liking, you're ready to start adding paint.
- Start by painting Apple Barrel Gloss White over any areas you want to prime for lighter colors.
- Then use Apple Barrel Gloss Pumpkin Orange, Golden Yellow, and Deep Purple applied with a Flat #6 paint brush to decorate your wand.
- The paint may feel slick over the hot glue, but once primed the second layer will be easier to apply.
- Add a black border detail between each color using Apple Barrel Gloss Black and a Liner 1 paint brush.
- To add an extra touch, use Folk Art Glitterific in Gold over the yellow sections and Folk Art Glitterific in Princess on the tip.
- Seal your wand with Mod Podge Ultra in Gloss to protect your painted wand.
