An easy and fun upcycle for Fall or Halloween!
This project features these great brands:
At a Glance:
Wipe down your empty Tide-Pod container with alcohol to remove any oils. Do not worry about the stickers/labels - you will paint over them.
Using a sponge, basecoat your entire container in Outrageous Orange. Allow to dry and apply a second coat. Allow to Dry.
Thinking about the curvature and indentations of a real pumpkin, create faux indentation shadows using Outrageous orange with a drop or two of Spiced Berry mixed into it. A medium sized brush works best for this. See image for clarification.
To create the deepest (darkest) part of your shadow, mix Outragouse Orange with a generous bit of your speced berry and apply a thinner line down each of your shadows using a smaller brush. Blend your shadows out.
Using Orange Cream you will create a highlight on the pumpkins curves by brushing/blending this color in the space between your shadows. See image.
Create your jack-o-lantern face using Black paint and a stiff square or angled brush. Remove the lid and set the main container aside.
Cut a 12”x12” (or larger) circle out of brown craft paper and place your lid in the center.
Pull the paper up and around the lid, twisting the paper into a stem. If your stem is loose or will not stay twisted you can carefully use a glue gun to secure it.
Using True Green, paint your stem leaving some of the brown paper showing for a more realistic/rustic look.
Cut 3 or more leaf shapes off of your brown paper. Crumple them up and smooth them back out. Paint one side with Treasure Gold. Allow to dry.
Slip your leaves between the container and the lid.
Reattach your stem/lid to the main container and enjoy your work!
