Natural Woven Basket with Blended Color Ombre
Make a vibrant statement with your home decor with a woven basket and FolkArt ® Watercolor Gelz™

Other Things You'll Need

  • Unfinished natural woven basket
  • Brush basin
  • Paper towels
  • Foam bowls and plates
  • Cotton cloth
  • Craft knife
  • Plastic gloves
  • Medium- to fine-grit sandpaper

Instructions

  1. Pour each paint, Pinkberry, Hibiscus Red and Peach Pop into a foam bowl.
  2. From start to finish working with all three colors, work one side of the natural woven basket at a time. Begin by loading the paintbrush with Pinkberry.
  3. Brushing the dye horizontally onto the basket, apply Hibiscus Red approximately one third the height of the basket.
  4. Clean the brush then load it with Peach Pop. Working upwards on the next third of the basket, apply Peach Pop allowing it to blend with the wet Hibuscus Red.
  5. Leave a few woven rows of basket natural along the top edge of the basket.
  6. Repeat for each of the three remaining basket sides. Allow to dry.
  7. If desired, the woven basket can be sealed for protection by applying a coat of Mod Podge Matte to the surface. Allow to dry and completely cure.

TIPS

  • Blended paint applications always look best when working in similar color families such as blue/green, or pink/red, or yellow/orange, etc.
  • Woven surfaces can also be sealed with a spray clear acrylic.
