Create a mid century modern style leash or stocking holder and matching dog bowl with retro colors and an offset look.

Other Things You'll Need

  • Dog Bowl (project works best with non-smooth surfaces, i.s. a non-shiny plastic)
  • Black paint pens
  • Optional: Sand Paper
  • Phillips Head Screw Driver
  • Pencil

Instructions

Leash Holder:
  1. Unscrew the hook and set aside. Optional - lightly sand the wooden surface.
  2. Basecoat the surface with Parchment. Allow to dry and repeat.
  3. Using a pencil, lightly sketch out your string of lights using the project image as a guide.
  4. Using Fire Coral, Yellow Ochre and Treasure Gold, create the offset look by creating the shape of the bulb just off to the side of your sketch. Refer to the project image. Allow to dry and add 2nd and 3rd coats where necessary.
  5. Using your wide paint pen, trace your cord line and your original bulb lines.
  6. Using a thinner paint pen, trace the connectors from the bulb to the cord.
Dog Bowl
  1. Base coat the outside of the bowl using a large brush. Allow to dry. Repeat multiple times changing the direction of your brush stroke with each coat.
  2. Follow directions 3-6 above.
