FAQs

How can I preserve a paper stencil for longer life?
You might try spray sealing both sides of the paper stencil prior to stenciling the first time. If you know ahead of time that you might repeat this design several times, or if you are planning to use a heavy paint application technique, it is a good idea to spray seal the stencil to provide a little added protection.
How do I find the middle of my fabric?
Fold your fabric in half horizontally, and then in half vertically. The point where your folds meet is the middle.
How do you create a lazy daisy stitch for embroidery or cross stitch?
These fun stitches are decorative loops held in place with a tack stitch at the end of the loop.
Bring needle up at A. Make a loose loop with the thread and insert needle back in A and bring point of needle up at B (just inside loop). Pull needle out at B and insert back in at B, over the loop.
How do you paint a One Stroke™ pansy?
Paint individual shell-shaped petals using a flat brush loaded with Dioxazine Purple and Wicker White. Start at left side of petal. Pull brush in a curve as you wiggle. End on chisel.
Make 5 overlapping shell-shaped petals.
Add individual teardrop-shaped petals at bottom of pansy.
How should I apply Leather Studio™ paints?
When painting vinyl and leather surfaces with Leather Studio paints, a thin application of paint is best.
How should I clean my decorative painting brushes?
Proper cleaning and care of brushes will not only make them last longer but also make them perform as they were designed to perform.
  1. Thoroughly clean the brush with water using the grid in the bottom of the Brush Basin®.
  2. Squeeze a small amount of Brush Plus Cleaner & Conditioner onto your brush.
  3. Place the brush scrubber in the palm of your hand, choose the correct height of scrubber teeth for your brush, then move the brush back and forth under the running water until the water runs clear.
  4. After cleaning, apply a small amount of Brush Plus Cleaner & Conditioner and reshape using your thumb and forefinger. Store with bristles upright in a cup or brush caddy.
More brush tips:
  • Do not allow paint to dry in the brush.
  • As you paint, rinse bristles out occasionally with water.
  • Store the brush upright in the Brush Basin® or in a container that will allow the brushes to retain their form and to be separate from one another.
What does color value mean?
Value is a color's lightness or darkness in relation to the black and white gray scale.
What is the difference between FolkArt® and Apple Barrel paint?
Apple Barrel is an all-purpose acrylic craft paint. It works great on craft surfaces including Styrofoam, wood, paper, terra cotta and canvas.

FolkArt paint is a high quality pre-mixed acrylic paint with a rich and creamy consistency. FolkArt is a favorite of decorative painters and artists.
Can Apple Barrel Paints be used with children?
Yes, Apple Barrel Paints are perfect for school projects – they are the best paint on the market to paint on Styrofoam! Apple Barrel Paints are also perfect for “mom and me” projects or for the general basic crafter.
How can I get rid of the bubbles in my bottles of Gallery Glass Window Color?
It is best to store your bottles of Gallery Glass Window Color upside-down. This way any air in the bottle will move to the bottom, ensuring that there are no bubbles in the actual paint.
