Does Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Decor paint contain latex?
We do not use natural rubber latex in any of our current paint products. Our paint products are manufactured using synthetic acrylic resins.
Why is the Waverly Inspirations Chalk Brush unique?
The Waverly Inspirations Chalk Brush is great for painting large surface areas. It is specifically designed to hold large amounts of paint, requiring you to re-load your brush less frequently.
The tapered shape of the bristles allows you to easily spread paint into tiny grooves and details on your furniture. Comfortable handle allows for easy application.
What types of surfaces does Erasable Liquid Chalk work on?
For best results, use it on top of Martha Stewart Crafts® Multi-Surface Chalkboard Paint that has been conditioned by lightly rubbing chalk over the surface.
Is there anything special that needs to be done to the painted surface before using it as a chalkboard?
The surface should be “conditioned” before use. To condition the surface, wait 24 hours (recommended cure time) after the last coat of paint. Lay a piece of chalk on its side and rub on surface side to side. Dampen a paper towel with water and wipe the surface to remove chalk dust.
How long does Waverly Inspirations Chalk take to dry?
For best results, wait 2 hours between each coat of paint. Allow 24 hours for paint to fully cure.
What is the best paint application technique to be used with Waverly Inspirations Chalk?
Waverly Inspirations Chalk is best applied using a large bristle brush, like the Waverly Inspirations Chalk Brush. This helps to work the paint into all crevices and corners of your project. Brush paint on using repeated, long swiping motions to achieve a smooth finish.
The Waverly Inspirations Chalk Brush is great for large projects and the Small Chalk Brush from the Combo Set is perfect for smaller scale projects. These brushes have special bristles that allow them to hold the maximum amount of paint, requiring you to re-load your brush less frequently. The tapered bristles allows you to easily get paint into grooves and details on your furniture.
How resistant to fading is Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Decor paint?
All Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Decor paints are very fade-resistant and made using very high quality pigments that will give your painted project a superior, long-lasting finish.
Can Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Decor paint colors be mixed to create new colors or different values of the same color?
Yes, Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Decor paints mix easily to create any color you desire. Begin by mixing a small amount of the darker color into the lighter color first. Continue adding the darker color a little at a time until the desired color or value is achieved.
Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Decor paint can also be added to the Martha Stewart Crafts Vintage Decor Clear wax to create a custom colored wax, just add a little paint at a time until desired color is achieved. (Note: While you can use the Martha Stewart Multi-Surface paint to accent your Vintage Decor painted piece, we do not recommend mixing it with the Vintage Decor paint to create custom colors, as the satin finish of the Multi-Surface paint will alter the distressing properties of the Vintage Decor paint.)
