FolkArt Paints

FolkArt Design Creme FAQ

FolkArt Design Creme should be cleaned from your brushes and/or tools using soap and water immediately after each use.
Yes, FolkArt Design Creme paints do mix well with each other to create any color you desire. Begin by adding a small amount of the darker color into the lighter color, then continue adding small amounts of the darker color, a little at a time, until the desired color or value is achieved. It is recommended to use a palette knife to mix two or more colors when creating a custom color.
Creating a color washed or antiqued effect on a project that has been created using FolkArt Design Creme can easily be achieved.  We recommend thinning down FolkArt One Décor Paint with a touch of water.  With the thinned paint mixture, brush over the project and blot with a soft paper towel or absorbent rag.
No, the beauty of painting with FolkArt Design Creme is that a surface does not require massive preparation work.  The Design Creme can be applied to both basecoated or non-basecoated surfaces.
No, it is not necessary to shake or stir the open jar of FolkArt Design Creme as this paint is manufactured as a full-bodied, creamy paint that will not separate.   That being said, a palette knife can be used to scoop the paint from the jar to be added onto a palette.
When using a FolkArt Adhesive Silkscreen, on most surfaces, FolkArt Design Creme dries to the touch within an hour.  And when decorating using FolkArt Dimensional Stencils the Design Creme will dry within 24 hours.  Note: a few variables such as the project surface and how it was prepared, paint application and how thick Design Creme was applied, also the humidity and air flow will determine the total dry time.
FolkArt Design Creme can be applied to many different types of surfaces such as wood, terra cotta, metal/tin, canvas, paper mache and plaster.  It can also be applied to ceramic and/or glass surfaces for decorative purposes only as the paint is not dishwasher safe.
FolkArt Design Crème is a fantastic and very versatile, creamy, full-bodied paint that is the perfect paint to use when creating designs with dimension and depth.  This paint is suited for the DIY enthusiast as well as the general crafter.  FolkArt Design Crème is ideal to use in combination with FolkArt Adhesive Stencils and/or with FolkArt Dimensional Stencils to create textured design elements on most any home décor surface.  Design Crème is an acrylic-based paint, making clean-up quick and easy too.
When working with FolkArt Design Creme and a FolkArt Adhesive Silkscreen or a FolkArt Dimensional Stencil, the best technique to use when applying paint to the project surface is to use a palette knife or a FolkArt Squeegee.  Simply “ice” across the stencil or silkscreen.
FolkArt Design Creme will dry to the touch within an hour to 24 hours; however, it will take 24 to 48 hours before it is fully cured to the surface.
