Painting Instructions

  1. On the box lid, apply painters tape to mask 1" in from the edge all the way around the lid.
  2. For the first coat, apply an even coat of Fog Gray to: 1) the box sides, 2) 1" on box lid and lip, 3) inside the box and 4) to all corner embellishments.  Allow to dry.
  3. For the second coat, sponge all of the painted areas with a mixture of White plus Fog Gray using a small sea sponge. Refer to project photo.  Allow to dry and remove the tape.
  4. To paint the box lid insert, apply painters tape on the sponge painted area once it is completely dry taping directly along the sponge painted edges.
  5. For the first coat on the box lid insert, apply an even coat of White using the 1" flat brush and allow to dry.
  6. For the second coat, sponge the insert area White using a small sea sponge. While White is still wet, pick up tiny amount of Pop Pink on the sea sponge then pat on the palette to remove excess.  Next, very lightly sponge the Pop Pink onto the wet White. Repeat this process individually adding Fog Gray and Seafoam. Allow to dry.

Stenciling Instructions
NOTE:  Mask open areas of the stencil that will not be used by applying painters tape to the stencil.

  1. On the Elegant Fleur de Lis stencil, mask around the large swirl next to the central fleur de lis design.
  2. Lightly apply Delta Liquid Stencil Adhesive to the back of the stencil and allow to dry.
  3. Press the stencil firmly in place starting at the upper right hand corner of the box lid insert.
  4. Load the large end of a cosmetic wedge sponge by dabbing into an equal-part paint mixture of White and Fog Gray; pat onto palette to remove excess paint.
  5. Using a straight up and down motion, dab over the open areas of the large swirl section of the stencil.  Lift, then reposition the stencil.  Repeat stenciling the large swirl randomly over the insert area until area is filled.
  6. Using a pencil and ruler, mark the box insert center by measuring the box lid length diagonally from corner to corner in both directions.
  7. Stencil a 1 3/4" Shadow Gray circle directly in the center using a circle template.
  8. Position the small square stencil design from the Decor Accent stencil over the stenciled Shadow Gray circle.  Repeat stenciling using the White and Fog Gray mixture.
  9. To paint border stripes, apply painters tape 1/4" from the box lid insert all around the insert.  Also apply painters tape allowing 1/4" up from the bottom of the box lid.
  10. Paint taped border stipe Shadow Gray using a no. 14 flat brush. Allow to dry then carefully remove painters tape.
  11. Dry-brush over the top of all four corner embellishments with an equal-part mixture of White and Fog Gray.  Next very lightly dry brush Pop Pink.  Allow to dry.
  12. Finish box by adhering all four embellishments and a decorative knob in place.  Refer to photo for placement.
