  • Natural canvas backpack
  • Paper towels
  • Container for water
  • Palette
  • Cardboard

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Refer to the Basic Stenciling Tips for information on using Martha Stewart Stencils.

Lunch Bag

  1. Create a firm backing by placing cardboard inside the canvas lunch bag.
  2. Position the lunch bag on a smooth, stable work surface.
  3. Using small and medium daubers, stencil floral designs as desired. Refer to photo for design placement. Let dry.

Backpack

  1. Protect pocket area of backpack by applying stencil tape over the entire pocket area.
  2. Cut apart floral stencil so that pattern is a smaller and more manageable. 
  3. Stencil an overall Jellyfish Blue floral pattern as shown using a small dauber. Continue stenciling until the entire front section of the backpack is covered. Remove tape from the pocket area.
  4. Design and stencil floral and butterflies on the front pocket as shown. Let dry.

Clean Up

  1. Wash all brushes, and tools immediately after use before the paint dries.
  2. Let paint dry on paper stencils, do not immerse in water to wash. Store stencils on backer sheet.
