Related FAQs

Is a project created using FolkArt Glitterific Paint dishwasher-safe?

No, projects painted on glassware or glazed ceramics using FolkArt Glitterific Paints are not dishwasher safe, nor should they be immersed in water. These surfaces should be used for decorative purposes only.

On what surfaces can I use FolkArt Glitterific Paint?

Many surfaces can be decorated with FolkArt Glitterific Paint: wood, papier mache, paper or cardstock, canvas, metal, rigid plastics, terra cotta, glassware, ceramics and fabric. Note, however, FolkArt Glitterific Paints will not be permanent on glassware, ceramic, rigid plastic and fabric surfaces and therefore should be used for decorative purposes only.

Where can I learn more about FolkArt Glitterific Paint?
You can learn more about this product by reading the FolkArt Glitterific FAQ.
On what surfaces can I use FolkArt Color Shift Acrylic Paint?

FolkArt Color Shift Acrylic Paint can be applied to most paintable craft surfaces such as wood, terra cotta, stretched canvas, rigid plastic, papier mache, metal, bisque ware or unglazed ceramics, glass and ceramics. However, the color shifting properties of the paint appear best when painted onto a smooth, 3-dimensional surface that will reflect light.

Does FolkArt Color Shift Acrylic Paint hold up well on outdoor surfaces?

Absolutely. FolkArt Color Shift Acrylic Paint is formulated so that it can be used on interior surfaces as well as a permanent outdoor paint. By the nature of the acrylic polymers used to make FolkArt Color Shift, it is weather resistant.  When cured to the surface, it is self-sealing, making it unnecessary to seal or topcoat, when properly cured (48 hours). Once cured to the project surface, it is water and fade resistant under normal conditions.

How long does it take FolkArt Color Shift Acrylic Paint to cure?

FolkArt Color Shift Acrylic Paint will dry to the touch very quickly, however, it will take approximately 48 hours before it is cured to the surface.

Where can I learn more about FolkArt Color Shift Acrylic Paint?
You can learn more about this product by reading the FolkArt Color Shift Acrylic Paint FAQ document.
Are FolkArt® Shinys the same as Apple Barrel® Gloss?
No, FolkArt® Shinys are not the same as Apple Barrel Gloss. FolkArt® Shinys were developed to have a higher gloss finish than Apple Barrel Gloss. Also, FolkArt® Shinys are color matched to the corresponding FolkArt® Acrylic Color and have the same high pigment load and intense color.
How many types of FolkArt Home Decor Wax are there?
There are three different types of FolkArt Home Decor Wax: Clear Wax, White Wax and Antiquing Wax. All waxes provide a protective velvety smooth finish for your projects.
When properly applied, Clear Wax will protect your surface without adding color. White Wax gives your project a beautiful white washed or faded finish. Antiquing Wax adds a vintage or antiqued, time-worn look with a warm, chocolate brown, color. FolkArt Home Decor Chalk can be added to the waxes to create your own custom-colored waxes.
What types of surfaces can I use FolkArt Home Decor Chalk paint on?
FolkArt Home Decor Chalk can be applied to many different types of surfaces such as finished and unfinished wood, terracotta, metal/tin, canvas, paper mache and plaster.
It can be applied to ceramic and glass surfaces; however, the paint is not dishwasher safe. Fabric surfaces can also be painted using FolkArt Home Decor Chalk, but the surface is not machine-washable. When decorating glass, ceramic and fabric surfaces, your project should be used as a decorative accessory only to be lightly cleaned using a damp cloth when needed.
