DIY Stenciled Wall Ideas and Tips

A stenciled statement wall is the perfect solution to give any room a budget-friendly facelift! After you pick your perfect stencil, you'll just need a few additional supplies before getting started. Stencil Adhesive helps to make sure the stencil stays in place as you repeat the pattern - it's super handy because it's repositionable and allows the stencil to be moved repeatedly before adding more adhesive.

A good brush also makes the job much more fun! We love our FolkArt Home Decor Chalk Brush for it's specialty bristle mix and brush shape because it helps to hold the maximum amount of paint, making application quick and easy.

Pick a contrasting paint color to make the wall really pop, or choose a color in the same shade of the color of the walls for a more subtle effect. Use FolkArt Home Decor Chalk for an ultra-matte finish! It also comes in pretty metallic colors, which we love for a touch of neutral 'bling.'

Now for the fun part - choosing your stencil! Choose a stencil to suite the 'mood' of the room - here are a few of our favorite ideas!

Modern: Chevron has become the 'new stripe,' and the bold Chevron Stencil gives any room (photo above) energy! This pattern is fun in a family room, teen room or nursery! We love the idea of alternating bright colors for a playroom, too.

Elegant: The Ornate Damask Stencil gives a touch of elegance with a classic feel, perfect for a master bedroom.

Whimsical: How fun is this oversized Peony Stencil? This is so sweet in a nursery or a little girl's room! Or we love the idea of giving drama to a guest bathroom with metallic stenciled peonies!

Transitional: The Trellis Stencil motif is the perfect choice if you're looking for an understated pattern, and it looks great in any room!
